SHIB DAO serves as the core governance layer of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, allowing SHIB holders to influence community initiatives, partnerships, and foundational ecosystem decisions. Proposal submission is restricted to eligible members who meet minimum SHIB token holdings, hold at least Karma Level 1, and demonstrate active participation and engagement in the ecosystem. Each proposal may adopt one of several voting mechanisms, including token-weighted voting, veToken time-locked voting, identity-based voting, or quadratic voting to ensure adaptability based on the proposal type. All proposals first enter an off-chain community review period before being advanced to the voting phase. Voting timelines vary depending on the proposal’s impact: standard proposals follow a 3-5 day review and a 3-7 day voting window, urgent proposals use an accelerated 1-2 day review and 1-3 day voting period with immediate execution when required, while major proposals may follow extended timelines of 5-7 days of review and 7-14 days of voting with phased execution. Final approval depends on quorum and threshold rules, which scale with proposal criticality: standard proposals require a 5% quorum and a simple majority, major proposals require a 10% quorum and a 66% supermajority, and critical proposals require a 15% quorum with a 75% approval threshold. Once approved, execution is carried out manually by teams or contributors.
